Lost Wilson

2026-01-01 → 2026-05-31 7.00 mi 2527 ft gain GPX

Lost Wilson is the smaller, gnarlier sibling of Wilson Mountain North of Sedona, and it sits at the summit coordinates 34.92910, -111.77949 with no trail leading to the top. That's the whole pitch. There's no trailhead sign, no route to follow, no AllTrails GPX that gets you there cleanly. Plenty of people have made the ascent before, from several different starting points and up several different faces, and the trip reports they've left behind are the homework for this one. Read them, pick an approach that matches your tolerance for loose rock, vegetative hardship, and route-finding, and accept that distance and elevation gain are entirely yours to determine depending on where you park and which line you choose up the peak. The summit sits at roughly 6,780 feet. The path there is whatever you make it. The GPX file here is a rough approximation a workable route to the top, but you'll be reading rocks and ramps once on Lost Wilson, not looking at your phone. This is a choose-your-own-suffering peak, so the usual recommendations apply with extra weight: go with a partner or two, start early, carry more water than you think you need, and expect the kind of Type 2 fun that's earned the rest of this list its reputation. Enjoy!
